Govt. to commence 25 island hospital projects by second quarter of 2022

Malé, Maldives – Minister of Health announced 25 island hospitals to be tendered this year.

Minister Ahmed Naseem stated this during a questioning session by the Maldives Parliament today.

The 25 hospitals include 12 hospitals with 30-bed capacity, 7 hospitals with 50-bed capacity and 3 tertiary hospitals with 100-bed capacity. He also announced 3 hospitals without a set bed capacity.

The projects are to be completed under the Line of Credit from EXIM Bank India and loans from Kuwait.

  • Locations for hospitals with 30 bed capacity – HDh. Hanimaadhoo, N, Moladhoo, ADh. Maamigili, K. Thulusdhoo, V. Felidhoo, Th. Vilufushi, N. Kendikulhudhoo, HA. Ihavandhoo, Lh. Hinnavaru, R. Alifushi and GDh. Gadhdhoo
  • Locations for hospitals with 50 bed capacity – AA. Rasdhoo, Dh. Kudahuvadhoo, HA. Dhidhoo, GA. Viligili, Sh. Funadhoo and Fuvahmulah City
  • Locations for tertiary hospitals with 100 bed capacity – Kulhudhuffushi City, GDh. Thinadhoo and L. Gan

Health Minister Naseem said that hospitals with 30 bed capacity have been tendered. 50-bed capacity hospitals projects and hospitals built under the LOC from EXIM Bank will be tendered during the 2nd quarter of this year.
