Malé, Maldives – The Criminal Court of Maldives on Wednesday released a man suspected of stabbing his victim 11 times after witnesses and victim were unable to identify the perpetrator.
The suspect Iuthisam Mohamed, Haveereenaaz, S. Feydhoo was arrested in 2019 under suspicion of stabbing victim Mohamed Farih 11 times with a three-inch knife at Gan, Addu City.
The suspect was released after the defence submitted four witness statements proving an alibi and the prosecution’s witnesses were unable to remember the events of the case.
The victim also testified that he was unable to recall giving the initial statement to the police.
Criminal Court statement read that the evidence was unable to convince beyond doubt that the suspect was guilty.
