Malé, Maldives – The Tourism Summit, which is to be held in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism of Maldives and the United Nations’ specialised agency for promotion of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism UNWTO, has been scheduled to be held on June 15th.
The event, which also coincides with Maldives marking 50 years of tourism, will be held at Cross Roads.
Speaking with regards to the event, Tourism Minister Dr. Abdullah Mausoom said that the summit would focus on sustainable tourism and more particularly “community based tourism”.
A day prior to the summit, the ministerial event of UNTWO will also be held, which consists of East Asia, Pacific and South Asian member countries. The commission is chaired by Minister Mausoon and co-chaired by Malaysia.
Following the ministerial event, a ministerial round table is also scheduled to be held, which will proceed under the theme “UNWTO Ministerial Round Table Conference on Tourism Resilience through Innovation and Digitalisation in Asia and Pacific.”
