Malé, Maldives – The official ceremony to handover the opposition coalition – Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and People’s National Congress (PNC)’s – presidential ticket to the party’s candidate, former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Qayyoom will be held tonight.
The ceremony, which has been dubbed “Havaaley Wathan”, that loosely translates to “[we] hand over the country” will be held near the carnival area at 20:30.
The decision to nominate Yameen as the coalition’s nominee for the 2023 Presidential Elections was made and announced by the parties’ council on 31st July.
During the event tonight, Yameen as well as other PPM-PNC leaders are scheduled to speak, in attendance of the steering committee members of both parties, council members and WDC members.
