Male’, Maldives — Dr. Mohamed Jameel, Former Vice President and current head of the legal defense team of Former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that justice is only served to those with Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) ideals, and if proper justice is served, the government’s upper echelon will fall apart.

In a tweet earlier today, Jameel – who has consistently bashed the government due to various issues with Yameen’s ongoing court hearings among others, said that even people who have ruled the country and police officers are not safe.

While it is not a mystery what leader Jameel was referring to, the police officer he mentioned is the recently retired Assistant Commissioner of Police Dr. Abdhullah Fairoosh, whose retirement was submitted as an issue to the Maldivian Parliament’s Standing Committee on National Security Services — more commonly known as its 241 Committee by Former President and Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed.

Jameel’s tweet also had screenshots of news articles regarding Fairoosh’s case , Yameen’s asset repossession , and Adeeb’s transfer to house arrest .

He also mentioned an issue where Shifa Mohamed, current mayor of Male’ City and relative of Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem who has had her corruption case sent back to the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), from the Prosecutor General’s office, citing “insufficient evidence”.

Jameel has tweeted this out while state representatives, at Yameen’s last hearing have requested that under anti corruption laws, money obtained by Yameen, who was allegedly involved in a coverup for a USD 1.1 million bribe taken via a mediator named Krik Riza in leasing of R. Fuhgiri to be developed as a tourist resort. along with personal assets that do not reflect his legal income are to be taken by the state.
