PGO indicts two additional suspects regarding May Terror Attack

Malé, Maldives – The Prosecutor General’s Office has charged two additional people in connection to the May 6 terror attack targeting the former President and Speaker of the Maldives Parliament Mohamed Nasheed.

The two individuals prosecuted are identified as Abdulla Ali Manik, Bahaaruge, HA. Molhadhoo, Mohamed Thasleem, Alanaasige, HA. Hoarafushi.

Both suspects are charged under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (No. 32/2015) for supporting a terrorist organization.

To date, 7 people have been charged regarding the May 6 terror attack. They are Fahumee Ali, Hudhuruvaage, GA. Villigili, Mohamed Nazim, Asareege, AA. Maalhos, Ishaq, M. Udhehige, Malé, Ali Haisham, Nooereege, N. Manadhoo, Mujaz Ahmed, MA. Feyruge, Malé, Thahumeen Ahmed, Folheymaa, GA. Kondey, Adhuham Ahmed Rasheed, Hiya, V. Thinadhoo.

While the trial for the May terror attack began with the prime suspect and who detonated the bomb. Adhuham plead guilty to all charges immediately after the prosecution dictated the four charges. He also said that there was no compulsion from the authorities to plead guilty. With this Adhuham’s further hearings were made private.

Trial continues for all 7 suspects with charges under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (No. 32/2015).
