Male’, Maldives – Former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s first Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Jameel has said that the development seen in Addu is all because of President Yameen.

Dr. Mohamed Jameel, Former Vice President and current head of Yameen’s legal team said today that even though the incumbent government has come to power and has majority in Parliament, no funding has been provided for the development of Addu, and instead, the only things seen in Addu as of right now are worn out buildings and Flying school issues.

“For every election, MDP plays the same song. But within the last 2 years the country is poorer, Even with power and majority in Parliament, the country and especially Addu did not get even a single Laari, no jobs or party posts given. However, Presdent Solih’s family members got all positions, while Addu citizens on other civilians received no party positions or Parliament positions.” said Jameel.

Jameel has said this after The Former President and Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed advised the opposition to not plan any new projects on the land where the Police Academy is built, stating that it is now a educational institute. He also asked whether the opposition has no plans to provide higher education in Addu.

Nasheed tweeted this out after after Opposition Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) candidate for Addu City’s Mayor Mohamed Latheef, stated earlier that if he is elected, he will change the Police Academy currently building in Addu City into a hotel, which was later mocked by  MP and MDP candidate for Addu City mayor for the upcoming local council elections Ali Nizar, who said that the opposition might even promise to change the runway in Gan International Airport to a running track.
